Satisfying Since 1956

All families have had those nights when one person wants chicken, another one pizza, and someone else fish or a salad. A sure way to not go to KFC, Pizza Hut, and Long John Silver’s is to get dinner at Pizza Villa. Their menu includes a wide variety including chicken, pasta, fish, salads, and pizzas.

This restaurant is located on West Lincoln Highway and prides itself on being “A DeKalb Favorite Since 1956”. Its brick exterior had no windows giving off a vibe that only exclusive people were permitted to eat there. Once inside there was a homely and inviting vibe in the restaurant. The walls were brown brick just like the outside which made the whole restaurant dark and warm. The actual decorum and set up left something to be admired though. There were snowman and hanging clown decorations that didn’t seem to go with any particular theme. But the fireplace that took up practically a whole wall was a nice touch to the calming family oriented setting.

It was an untraditional sort of restaurant. Usually people are seated and then order their food but at Pizza Villa you place your own order as soon as you walk in. Once you order your food you seat yourself and then a waitress takes your drink orders and brings you your food. This method was not beneficial to me because when trying to make a selection I had to stand there with a menu in my hand until I figured it out.

With the many having such a wide range, so did the price. Prices went from $.75 to $4 for drinks; $.99 to $7 for appetizers; and $2.10 to 29.56 for entrees. Overall the prices were reasonable for the product. I ordered an individual 7 inch pepperoni pan pizza that cost 6 dollars and an order of fries that were $1.95. The pizza was small but filling. The crust was crispy and buttery on the outside and soft and decadent on the inside. The sauce was seasoned to perfection and the cheese was moist and delicious. It was worth the 3 extra dollars that I paid for it over what I would have paid at a place such as Pizza Hut. Something that I didn’t like about the prices was the fact that there were no refills on drinks. If you wanted another soda you would have to buy one.

The servers were nice but the customer service was nothing to be remembered. It took a while for the food to be cooked and after eating I had to wait for a long amount of time to for the waitress to check back in for boxes.

Pizza Villa is a dinner restaurant and does not open until 4 pm. Since I have only eaten there one time I could not speak on other dishes in the restaurant but from the look on the other customers faces young and old, the food is enjoyable.
