If traveling to Mexico is too far for some traditional Mexican food, tryout Eduardo’s in downtown DeKalb. Each meal is extremely different from the other, with an explosion of taste in each bite. With over seventy meal options to choose from, Eduardo’s is the place to spend your money.
Having dinner here is very relaxing and has a romantic mood. It is a casual dining experience infused with Mexican flair. The walls are filled with artsy, mellow Spanish traditional artwork, with paintings of farmers and other unique portraits. Many of my other experiences at traditional Mexican restaurants did not have a good restaurant environment; they were dirty and did not look appealing. Eduardo’s tables were spotless, the paint on the walls was fresh, and the dishes were glittery clean. The restaurant had a very elegant look to it, there were candles lit at every table.
The service was very good and I got my food very fast. For the best sufficient service, Nicole Javolve, a two year host recommended “a weekday, after three pm would be the best time for a meal,” because the hosts are on top of their game. If you want more of an upbeat experience, then try grabbing a table on a Friday night. It is the busiest night and the restaurant is always glowing with new fresh faces. At Eduardo’s you never have to wait for a table very long as stated by hostess Nicole Javolve, “only twenty minutes at the most you will have to wait,” which makes a trip to Eduardo’s a very fast and convenient experience. Locals love it; the food at Eduardo’s and is affordable for everyone.
I started off the meal with some hot, crispy tortilla chips. The salsa was taste bud tingling, it was spicy but had an amazing after taste. It also came free with the meal, and everyone knows, if it’s free it tastes even better. For the main meal, I chose the spinach enchiladas, which was an amazing experience. I got two tortillas stuffed with your choice of filings, served with the red enchilada sauce. Biting into one of them was a little slice of heaven. My taste buds were the happiest they have ever been. The Spanish rice was perfectly cooked, not too soft and not too hard. The menu also had many other appetizers, such as guacamole, which was home made.
The special of the day was the Pollo Ranchero, it was a chicken breast stuffed with broccoli and rice. At a price of $12.99, any one would be lucky to dig into it. Eduardo’s menu is full of divine choices, such as many vegetarian selections. All of the food was freshly made and the restaurant was also very clean.
Lastly, was the desert, if you’re a chocoholic like I am, the turtle trio is right for you. It was chocolate; caramel and pecan abound in caramel cheesecake topped with milk chocolate and mousse. It was the most extreme taste of flavors. Sugary, yes, but it was good it leaves you wanting more. Eduardo’s also has a lot more desert options and over a hundred alcoholic drink options.
It is a very fancy, serene restaurant, a meal at Eduardo’s ranges from seven to twenty dollars. For my whole meal, including the appetizer, main dish, and dessert, it only cost $18.84, which made me and my wallet happy. But for this cheap, eating at Eduardo’s at least once a week is defiantly worth it. Eduardo’s is by far the best Mexican restaurant I have eaten at and it’s an experience you will never forget.
