Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill located in DeKalb, Illinois, on Sycamore Road is an excellent choice if you are looking for a place to watch a big sports game. It is about ten minutes away from the central Northern Illinois Campus. The view from Buffalo Wild Wings is not that spectacular. It is surrounded by a few strip malls and a gigantic parking lot; beyond which you can also see cars whizzing by on Sycamore Road. My friend who I went with said that the restaurant was “somewhat hard to find.” It was hard to find because it is in the middle of a parking lot facing a Borders Bookstore, not the main street. Buffalo Wild Wings is handicap friendly, so anyone is able to enjoy food there. The inside decor include a great number of TVs which show different sporting events and TV shows. They also have trivia games that you can test your knowledge of music, sports, and more.
Buffalo Wild Wings has an excellent variety of food for even the pickiest eaters. They serve different kinds of wings, chicken tenders, and ribs with sauces ranging from Mild to Blazin’ and lots of other sauces in between to choose from. There are plenty of salads, wraps, and sandwiches available also. The price of Buffalo Wild Wings cuisine is extremely reasonable. Their appetizers are very cheap; they are all less than $7. The entrées are also inexpensive. The most expensive item on the menu is the ribs, which cost $13.99. Buffalo Wild Wing’s drinks are a little over priced at $3.99, but you do get free refills on the sodas. My friend agreed with me by saying that for the three of us that went, “the prices were reasonable…the bill was just over $30.” For about ten dollars per person, that is a good deal considering you get great food.
An appetizer you should try is the tasty potato wedges with melted cheese, topped with sour cream and chives. For only $2.99 it is a hard deal to beat. An excellent entrée to try is the Buffalo Ranch Chick Wrap; it consists of crispy chicken tenders mixed with their Medium sauce and Ranch dressing with tomato, lettuce, and different cheeses; and at $7.29 it is a very good deal. An obvious choice for a meal would be their award-winning Traditional Buffalo Wings topped with one of their fourteen signature sauces at only $8.49 for twelve wings.
Buffalo Wild Wings is a known sports bar, and you can definitely tell that on a Saturday afternoon in DeKalb with lots of Northern Illinois football fans cheering on the Huskies as they played (and beat) the Purdue Boilermakers. If you go there on game day, expect the service to be really slow and the restaurant to be very noisy. It was twenty minutes before the waitress even came to get our drink orders and another forty-five minutes before we got our food. Other then the service being slow, the dining experience was very enjoyable. We ate good food and got to watch and root for the Huskies. Also, when we got our check, our waitress explained that since we had to wait so long for our food and drinks, we got our drinks for free. This showed great customer service and that Buffalo Wild Wings cares that their customers enjoy their experience. When my friend was asked if she would recommend Buffalo Wild Wings to others, she said she would because, “it has good food at reasonable prices.” All in all, it was an enjoyable afternoon.
